Laser Hair Removal
Service Type: In Office
During a laser hair removal treatment, laser energy is aimed at the treatment area. This energy passes through the uppermost layer of the skin and is absorbed by the pigment contained in the hair follicles as heat. This disrupts the hair follicle, damaging it and rendering it unable to produce hair in the future.
Because hair follicles constantly cycle through growing and resting phases, all of the hair follicles in an area of your body can’t be destroyed during a single laser hair removal treatment. Patients often have to undergo several treatment sessions to get lasting, significant results. The amount of treatments each patient must undergo varies depending on the size of the treatment area and the amount of hair there.
