PRP injections are a method of rejuvenating the skin using growth factors found in the blood. This technique has long been used to accelerate recovery from injuries, but it also offers many cosmetic benefits. When injected into the skin, PRP addresses many signs of aging and skin damage by rejuvenating the skin. Once injected, it stimulates the production of collagen and restores damaged cells. As a result, patients enjoy a natural boost in volume and a reduction in some of the most prominent signs of aging and skin damage. Since PRP is derived from blood drawn from the patient, there is minimal risk of side effects, rejection, and complications.
The first step in a PRP injection treatment is drawing a small amount of blood from the patient. We will extract blood from the arm using traditional techniques. The collected blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood plasma from the rest of the blood cells. This platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is then injected into various areas of the face. We apply a topical anesthetic to the injection area prior to treatment to ensure maximum comfort during the injection process. PRP injections typically take about one hour.
Patients are typically able to resume work and other normal activities within a day of their procedure.
